Annual New Years Day BBQ/Picnic 2014

As has been the tradition in previous years, both the International and Indonesion congregations were invited to attend a Church bbq/picnic at Cornwall Park on New Years Day, with each attendee being encouraged to bring a plate and share in a time of fellowship while celebrating the beginning of a new year. It was once again pleasing to see a healthy representation of students who participate in the Church's weekly bible study and english language classes at the bbq/picnic, along with leaders from these classes. It was also a pleasure to have senior Church members present on the day, with Dennis ('Ticker') and Margaret entertaining those in attendance with some wonderful stories from the past, particularly Ticker's recollections of encounters with the Queen and Prince Phillip as a former Royal Marine.

Big thanks must go to Abraham, Vishal, Barry, Hannah and Elly for organising the bbq/picnic and providing food/drinks, along with all those in attendance who made the day a special occasion in the life of the Church.

Walk of Witness - 2013
In 2013, the Combined Chaplaincy Churches joined together with Aotea Chapel & St James to repeat the "Walk of Witness" tradition.  We had 5 stations begining at St Pauls, led by Rev Dr Murray Gow, and then to AUT and on to Aotea centre, both led by the team from Aotea Chapel & St James: Moyra Cooke, Heather Seal and Kathleen Yuen.  From there we marched on to our 4th station at Maclaurin Chapel, led by Rev Uasefili Unasa, and then to our last station, the garden across the road from Newman Hall led by Carolyn Kelly.  It was a great walk of witness and was a great opportunity to fellowship with other Christians in Auckland city.  We then moved on to St Andrews Church and joined together in the 10am Ecumenical Communion Service, followed by a morning tea of refreshments and hot cross buns.  See some of the photos here

Auckland Heritage Festival
St Andrew's continues to participate in the Auckland Heritage Festival, which gives Aucklanders the opportunity to learn more about the history of Auckland.  St Andrews First Presbyterian Church will be open during the two weeks celebration, as people are welcome to view the church and the photos on display.  Some of the photos are available here.

Foundational Service
The foundational service was a well organised and happy occasion as we celebrated 165 years of ministry in Auckland city.  Some people came in their cultural costumes and both the Indonesian Choir and the Gospel Choir praised God in their songs.  We gathered for morning tea after the service, and to also share the birthday cake.  Photos available here.

Happy Birthday
Our Northshore Indonesian Service celebrated two years of ministry on Sunday 29th April.  It was a very happy occassion and was well attended and supported.  We look forward to many more years of ministry over the Shore.

ANZAC Memorial Serivce

Good Friday "Walk of Witness
The "Walk of Witness" has been a tradition at St Andrew's for many years.  This year, the Combined Chaplaincy Churches, which includes St Andrew's, combined to repeat the "Walk of Witness tradition.  Members from St Andrew's and local churches joined in the walk.  We had 4 stations: Newmans hall, Maclauren Chapel, AUT Chaplaincy center and outside St Paul's.  We then returned to St Andrew's to join together in a Ecumenical Service.  See some photos here

Indonesian Easter Camp
The Indonesian congregation had an Easter Camp this year.  It started on Friday afternoon after the 10AM combined service, and was completed by Sunday noon.  The camp had seminars, Bible teachings and other activities for all.
